The Power of Writing

I recently came across some journaling I had done last summer. I smiled when I read it, as I was reminded of the great family memories we made during that time. My children are growing each day and I treasure the moments we spend together.
All of my life, I've been one to write and journal little notes. Whether my emotions were up or down, it was always a great release for me. It's been powerful for me to look back and realize the growth that has occurred in my life. You may sometimes hear people say, "God has brought me a mighty long way." Well, I can certainly say that, with a  resounding AMEN! HALLELUJAH! and THANK YOU LORD!
A businessman on television once said, "If you attend a business seminar and don't write down at least one thing you need to change on Monday morning, then you really didn't get anything out of it."
That said to me, if I attend church on Sunday and don't write down at least one thing that I can apply to my life, then I didn't get anything out of it. Not because the Lord didn't say anything to reach me, but because I didn't take the time to make note of anything and hold on to it for its appointed time in my life or the life of someone else that I could help.
Each time I attend church, I'm sure to take notes - the scripture, sermon title and important points of the message. I've kept them all and always manage to come across just the right message at the right time. I treasure God's Word and I am so thankful for the opportunity to hear from God each week through the pastor.
Isaiah 8:16(NLT) says, "Preserve the teaching of God." It is because of writing that we have God's Word today- to teach us what is right and true, correct us and prepare us to do His work. With all of today's technology, writing by hand is becoming a pastime of sorts. I find that unfortunate. I treasure handwritten notes from loved ones, as it is a little piece of them. Just another example of the magnificence of God's creation, making each individuals handwriting unique. With a simple pen and pad, you can preserve the lessons in life that God has taught you. You never know how it can later impact you or future generations.
